 Flannel is a cotton fabric that
is napped on one or both sides. Used for
top layer in mama pads. Hemp French Terry is a knit fabric made of 55% hemp, 45% cotton. One side is smooth like a jersey tee shirt and the other has short loops like a terry wash cloth. Hemp will outlive any cotton or microfiber in your stash because of its longer, denser fibers. It is also sustainably grown, without the need for any herbicides or pesticides. It is naturally antibacterial and super trim fitting. Used for absorbent layer in cloth diapers and mama pads. Microfiber is a soft polyester fabric. It is highly absorbent without being bulky. Used as inserts for pocket diapers and trainers. Because microfiber wicks moisture away from the skin, it is not recommended for use directly against the skin. Microfleece is a 100% polyester
fabric that is very soft to the touch.
Micro Fleece wicks moisture away from the skin and into the absorbent
layer keeping skin dry much like a disposable diaper would. Used as inner fabric for pocket diapers &
diaper covers. Note: micro fleece is a slightly bulkier option than suede cloth. Cotton Velour feels similar to velvet,
but has a shorter pile. Used for top
layer in mama pads and for a non-stay dry layer in a diaper or, more likely, a
trainer. Note: using velour as the inner fabric for a cloth trainer will allow
the child to “feel” that he or she is wet. |
